Toilet paper roll mini scrapbook

This is my first toilet paper roll scrapbook. I saw this on Pinterest and thought it was so cute! Because I didn't see the YouTube tutorials on this until I had already started, I had glued the rolls shut so I couldn't make pockets for the tags. So instead I made lots of little tags and fold-outs.

My first project of the year.

It's that time of year again, Mari's dance class is having their play, this year it's "The Wizard of Oz".

I had originally decided on making ruby shoes out of little plastic shoes and covering them with red paint and glitter (I hate working with glitter!) but while looking online for the shoes I saw some pictures of the flying monkeys. Since her class will be the wicked witch's flying monkeys I decided to make that instead.

I was gonna order the Ty Babies monkeys online ($5.99!) but a friend said she found these Valentine monkeys at Walmart for $2.97 each. So I drove right down and bought almost all of the brown & tan ones. Saved me a lot of $$$!! The only thing wrong with it was there was a plastic red heart on the front so I broke off the 'hug me' hearts on the front and made some clothes from felt. I love sewing with felt, no finishing of the edges. :)

Next came the hat. I had a little trouble trying to get the correct dimensions for the hats and putting it on cardstock to make a pattern.

The wings were a little easier, once I got the size in proportion to the body. I sewed a pipe cleaner inside two pieces of the wing so it's a little sturdier and bendable.

I had a friend print little tags for me to put on the wings.

Now to put it all together and sew the wings on to the back.

Finished one! Now to complete the rest!
